It's a pretty d-bag move for someone to pre-order a game than cancel if they got something out of it.

Nothing wrong with it, they're only pre-ordering it for the beta code, no reason they shouldn't be charged for trying to do something stupid like that.

Played the Destiny 2 Beta w/o pre-ordering the game from Gamestop/Amazon/Best Buy.
All I did was create an Asian PSN account to get the beta for free.

This is a pretty standard policy that other stores have as well. Although I've seen situations where the option to cancel isn't there on the page to prevent it you from even trying to cancel in the first place.

What's next? Trying to take away the pre-order bonus bump(s) at Gamestop if you change your mind and cancel the pre-orders there?

Obviously the people who cancelled their pre-orders did so after trying the beta and realizing they wouldn't like the game.

I think it's funny how many people are pro big corporations on these forums.

good. cancel after getting preorder bonus = crime
you steal something that is meant to boost the sale.

sadly there're many scums who try to justify this crime.
i hope these people try to grab some physical preorder bonus at a shop and run away, see how polices react.

I'm curious. If the customer canceled their preorder after playing the beta because they ended up not liking the game , do you still think it's fair?

Grow up and learn things.

There are people out there who see a bonus behind a pre order wall, and purposefully cancel regardless of if they liked the demo or not. What you're clinging to as what's "obvious", are simply the people who unfortunately get shorted because of the lowlifes. The people who see a loophole and exploit it ruin things for everyone else.
No one's "pro big corporation". Learn the difference between people defending companies, and people understanding a reason that you don't.

If anything, it's keeping me away from the beta. Not going to pre order something just to try it out and be told I can't cancel. Although what you can do, is get the game, and then turn right around and return it.

Honestly, it sucks for them, but I imagine that a simple email to the company explaining that they tried and and didn't like the game, could result in a cancellation without a charge.

Good news for you, the beta is now open to all. All these cancellers had to do was wait until today when the beta opened up to everyone regardless of preorder status.

Yeah I just saw it was open to all now.
Now my next biggest issue is whether or not they've allowed some single player to go on with it, or if it's just multiplayer.

That's exactly what I was saying. These people probably cancelled their pre-order because they tried the beta and found they didn't like the game. No harm in that if you ask me. Either way, Best Buy has gone back to my retailer of LAST choice for buying electronics from again for numerous reasons. The main one being that they now block the Gamer's Club Unlocked 20% discount that we PAY for with our memberships from working on Black Friday. The other being that they dropped the base My Best Buy members down to getting a mediocre HALF point per dollar spent. The only way to get the full point we used to now is by spending I think $2500 or more a year there to be "Elite".

Wonder how many people may try this after Aug 23rd for the COD WWII beta?
PS4 or Xbox One, Either way, it's all good.
Just enjoy what you have & most of all, have fun.
then it is that person's fault for preordering on best buy. he should preorder on amazon and then cancel it. it is easy to shop with amazon.
Best Buy has lost my business. Scumbag move by them.

Sure they did.

1) Most who pre-ordered Destiny 2 more than likely played 1, and should have a solid idea of what to expect.

2) Anyone who canceled the pre-order a few days after the Beta release obviously did it because they just wanted the bonus. Issues they see will probably get addressed, betas are not always smooth, that's kind of the point. Either that or they are emotional people who can't stand having things exactly the way they want, when they want.

Good on BB.
I guess its possible someone plays beta and realizes they dont like the game but at the same time its probably better get charged few bucks rather than pay full price for game you dislike. Ofcourse there scumbags who just sell beta keys and cancel preorder so fuck them

Why pre-order a game just to give up on it a few days later? If you take the initiative to put money down on something, months in advance, that means to me that you really want it. If you do that not knowing what the game is, then that's on you. Can something happen that warrants a cancellation in that time period? Yes, of course. Feature gets removed that was advertised beforehand, delays. None of that happened in the last 4 days.
kuter 6 hours ago#26
Every shop base their order on pre-orders. If they order 100 and 25 ppl cancel it just for the beta code, they should get punish anyways.

The free beta was open on the 21st I believe, so anyone who scammed for an early beta did it for a whole 3 day early start. That makes this news even funnier.

Was the beta access only based on agreeing to buy the game?

It's a BETA code though. It's not some booster for the eventual full retail release that would give those who cancelled an advantage over others. It's not some physical bonus item that cost REAL money to produce and ship. It's a fucking code for the beta of a game that I'm sure some are on the fence about buying after maybe feeling burned by the original game.

And people wonder why companies put on disc DLC and other scummy tactics like re-releasing games between gens with nominal upgrades and calling it a 'new' version. It's because gamers nowadays are so complacent and willing to take it w/o lube numerous times.

Yes. Buyer beware. I personally don't feel that "I don't like it" is a good enough reason to get a refund.

Refunds should be reserved for games that have performance issues.

If someone is on the fence because they got burned from the first one, then it seems like pre-ordering the sequel is a bit foolish no?

personally i got no problem. if you only did it for the beta.. well looks like karma gotcha.

If they preordered destiny 2 its because they want to play destiny 2. They get the beta code, and then they cancel. Maybe because the game sucked and they dont want to play it anymore. Or were these people just collecting beta codes to sell? Can someone clarify.
