Anon Lottery Winner

Everyone complaining about this needs to understand that if you win Powerball or Mega Millions in the following states you can legally remain completely anonymous:

Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas. (Georgia just passed a lottery anonymity law in their senate and this Powerball ruling may have just changed New Hampshire.)

There are many more states that allow a trust to claim a lottery prize, which can also keep the winner's name anonymous.

Therefore, you cannot claim that winner's names must be published to maintain the integrity of the lottery, because it's simply not supported by evidence. Auditors will always have access to the winners' information, it is their job to make sure the lottery is legitimate. Making the name public has nothing to do with the integrity of the lottery, they just want the media spectacle for free advertising so they can sell more tickets.

EDIT: As long as there are states that allow winners to remain completely anonymous, you have a good argument that your state lottery has no valid reason to publish your name other than advertising.

EDIT2: Updated state list to be more accurate.

A Powerball winner is allowed to stay anonymous while collecting her $560 million jackpot, a New Hampshire judge ruled on Monday.

Clever girl...she might be one of the few to actually stay wealthy.

Good.
I love beautiful skinny pale White, Asian and Arab cis-women, especially their clean bare feet, and the high I get from their aroma.

They've already narrowed it down to females living in New Hampshire.

If she wants to stay anonymous, why eliminate 90% of the country as possible winners?

How is this like, not a rule everywhere? Do they want people to get murdered?

the spirit of the rule is to show proof that people are winning the prizes and its not a scam, so i understand where the lotto is coming from...but the obvious dangers to the winner far outweigh that need.

Good. I see no reason why they should be forced to come out publicly.

My wife's extended family constantly tries to get money from us and we aren't even well off, I can't imagine how horrible it would be if we suddenly had hundreds of millions. Would definitely keep it on the down low, smart.

I think that'd be faaaaaar more irritating rather than interesting.

What I'd find more interesting is how many families out there would 100% honestly say (and prove) that they wouldn't hound a relative/friend for money if that person won the lottery jackpot.

I bet hot girls who turned me down would do a 180 and say "I always liked you, I was just shy! Can I chill in your hot tub with you at your mansion?" Hahaha, that would be very entertaining. And then I would turn them down, because bae liked me before I had millions.

One of the more well documented stories of this is Eminem right after he got really famous in 1999-2000. He claimed somewhere upwards of 60-70 relatives started mailing him asking what was up. This when he grew up alone with his addict mom in a trailer park

Good, the whole "prove it's not rigged" logic behind identifying lottery winners has always been really dubious.

Good for her, I disagree with the decision, it fucks with the integrity of the lotto.

This, that's why I never cared about winning because I had to come out saying I did. I did always have a plan that I would split the dough with a friend if he came out as the winner in my place.
