Dark Souls is a western game, yet has more in common with western RPGs than it does with JRPGs. I'm sure there are games that go the other way, too. |

The fuck? Japanese games do the same thing, except their big money maker is selling tons of costumes for money. I haven't spent a cent on any Western microtransactions.

Shit like this is why I don't look forward to games anymore. Half life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Kingdom Hearts 3, etc.
I enjoyed the hell out of the prequels to these but I know when they release sequels there's gonna be so much micros. If I pay $60.00 for a game, it should have everything included.

It has Amiibos, but no real content is locked behind them. Everything unlockable is unlockable just by playing the game itself. Fewer unlockables are unlocked through actual gameplay, because why not just charge real money for them? And why release a complete game when you can just lock story content behind season passes? Obviously these design choices have long-term consequences, but greedy publishers are too inept to consider the long haul. That kind of shit is why a game like Undertale, which was made by a neckbeard in his mom's basement, is better than most "AAA" games released today.

It was such garbage, too. They just took all the content and locked it behind a paywall. If you want to win, you have to keep paying them. Each player even had to pay just to play multiplayer. Such sneaky bastards! |
