Not in
Education - Are you enrolled in a local college or university? No.
Employment - Are you currently employed? No.
Training - Are you currently being trained for employment? No.
Also directly from their website
A+ certification represents entry-level competency as a computer technician and is a vendor neutral certification that covers various technologies and operating systems. Expires in 3 years.
Yours was from 2006 and is no longer valid or accepted.
Mine is good for life. It even has a verification code if you don't believe me.
I also am a student I just don't give that information. I have a random ass video of me working last year for reference.

"If you earned a CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+ certification prior to January 1, 2011, the certification is considered good-for-life (GFL) and does not expire. If you hold a GFL certification and are interested in bringing that certification current the only option is to pass the current version of the exam. You’ll then have two certifications – your GFL certification and your CE certification."

Why do you people still try and argue like I am giving opinions? *smh*. Do I look like you guys?

The GFL is meaningless.

you could have a microsoft cert relating to server 2003 and it be "good for life" but that doesnt mean its relevant or accepted today because every business uses some combination of 2008-2016. your cert from 12 years ago is useless

That's them trying to get money. Everyone knows anyone that got certified way back when is either A. going to keep up with everything or B. be able to keep up thanks to past experience. Anyways, I am not pursuing the career of computer repair. I just do it as a past time. That also doesn't say what you think it says. It is good for life. You can do the current test, and I could, if I want to pay 100 bucks for no reason.

No it's because new and better software is available that you are not certified in.
Serious question, do you understand the concept that technology advances and the degree you held 12 years ago doesn't qualify you to use the current tech and how that makes your GFL obsolete?

Well, that explains why you don't understand that your functionally dead entry level certification is useless. You need CE certs to get actual jobs nowadays.

Number one, A+ has two parts. One is hardware and one is software. Number two, it's a certification, not a degree. You cannot even understand fundamental concepts so I am not sure how you can continue to sit here and try and debate with me.

There is no question. Just you talking about things you don't understand. By the way, when I went into my last college my good-for-life A+ certification still skipped the first 2 courses of my Computer Science degree and granted me the credits for having already have completed those courses. I see you also don't have much strength with regards to making inferences. See that video of me from my networking course? That course comes after the ones that are for the A+ certification so by default you can know someone who is enrolled as a CS major taking that course has already completed the two required for the A+.
What does this mean? It means you should shut up.

I am not bragging. I was just responding to his baseless claim with a direct refutation. The fact you don't even acknowledge that is indicative of an inherent bias and therefore you are not here to be reasonable you are here to be condescending and a waste of time.

The difference between you and I is that I have an actual current CompTIA certification. I figured I'd impart some wisdom on you, since you're completely clueless on the subject.
Your long since useless A+ certification will get you nowhere. My well maintained Security+ cert on the other hand actually meets basic standards. It's not much, but it's certainly much more than you've got.

What makes you think I don't have a security+ as well if I showed you that I took that class last year and had no issues with the tests involved? That document is not as readily accessible. Since you refused to read the past post let me assist you. I could update it, if I want to waste 100 dollars for no reason. Why would I? I am not dreaming of going into the low paying work of PC technician for geek squad. That is your dream maybe, not mine. That's why this was my accomplishment MORE THAN A DECADE AGO which was why I chose to display those credentials. I could refute his claim from shit from more than 10 years ago, never mind now lol.

Because proxies are mentioned in the A+ exam (mostly dealing with printer networking though) which I already had taken over a decade ago and it was directly relevant to the post I was attacking which I alleged the poster didn't even know what a proxy was and he had responded that he had experience (still didn't describe what a proxy was) and said I had none. I refuted that with the evidence that seemed most relevant and was most readily available.
|
I'll impart more wisdom in you, given that unlike you, I actually AM Sec+ certified. They send you the .PDF file of said certification shortly after you earn it. They do the same when you renew it via continuing education. There is literally nothing about a Sec+ cert that's not readily accessible aside from PEBKAC errors on your part.
Like I said, it's not much, but it's more than you can honestly claim to have.

I have that in my school e-mail and I have my A+ literally in my downloads folder. I am sorry you think you can say what is readily accessible or not but that's not how that works. You can try to act like you are more than you are but you are the one here bragging, not me. I was just refuting a claim. Successfully, I might add. You proved you don't even know what you are talking about as it pertains to your own country's laws too. I saw that. It was funny. Still won't tell me what a proxy is either. *smh*.

PS: when you're too clueless to recognize the fact that CompTIA themselves say that the "good for life" certifications need to be made current through continuing education (and are by definition obsolete), then you really have no room questioning the reading comprehension of others.

But hey, I've maintained a cert for years, and am capable of both holding a job and being a functional member of society. What would I know, with all my actual practical experience and stuff? That can't hold a candle to your expired entry level cert and big bag of absolutely nothing.
