- Met a SJW last night. AKA - The importance of being able to debate politely.

At a party and got on to the subject of gender. Everyone was having a debate. Some people had different opinions but it was all polite until some guy started chipping in starting with "let me tell you why most of you are wrong...." and went on a massive monologue for about 5 minutes.
When people started asking him questions or positing diferent opinions he got really heightened and started talking louder and you could just tell he was getting annoyed and struggling to keep his cool because other people weren't "getting it". Then the conversation opened up to the group again finally and everytime someone said something he'd start talking over them and arguing to death minute points that didn't really matter in the grand scheme of the conversations. End of it he got into an argument with one person and it got very heated and he was asked to leave. He couldn't get his head round the fact that he wasn't asked to leave because of his opinions but because he was shouting and ruining the vibe of the party. Kept calling us biggots and acting like he was being asked to leave because we didn't agree with his opinions (which he kept calling facts). I think one of the issues with SJW isn't necessarily what they say but the way they go around saying it really gets people backs up. Like they don't really care about getting people to side with them or win them over. they just want to be right. I think a lot of people these days, especially on CE just don't have it in them to try and win people over and just want to b**** and moan. Which is why nothing ever changes. Because who wants to agree with someone when they are being a dick? I didn't really have a point just wanted to vent. |

The problem with echochambers is it makes people inside believe everyone who disagrees with them isn't just possibly mistaken, but evil. It's no mystery why they lose their s*** when confronted with a differing opinion.

Well, yeah, that is one of the reasons SJWs are typically distinguished from otherwise well-meaning people. They can't just advocate for gender, race, etc, they have to be total a******s about it. They've got to use their virtue as a shield and their activism like a cudgel and bully people who don't immediately fall in line. The worst parts are probably when such a person manages to rally the mob to try to destroy someone's life or bully them out of public spaces. And I don't even just mean just going after anti-SJWs, anti-feminists, etc. Just recently, as I heard, a writer for Kotaku UK, Laura Kate Dale got a ton of harassment from SJWs because she wrote an article about TotalBiscuit and moderating harassment. Apparently Anita Sarkeesian took to Twitter to condemn the article and the hoard descended upon her until she and Kotaku UK apologized to the harassers for writing the article. And not long ago, feminist youtuber Laci Green got metaphorically crucified by these outraged warriors because she had the audacity to say she wanted to engage in conversation with seemingly reasonable anti-feminists, instead of no-platforming the lot of them. She was doxxed, harassed, labelled a traitor to women, trans people, PoCs, etc. Especially once it came out that she was dating the YouTuber Chris Ray Gun. |

Thing is, SJWs feel righteous because their opinions are under the guise of progressiveness, which is becoming more and more accepted around the world, with more calls for equality and acceptance.
People with right wing opinions are usually told that their opinion is wrong and they need to leave behind the 1800s, so they have more experience with opposing opinions.

It feels like Goatthief isn't entirely wrong, and if there's enough doubt towards your story it can nullify the point you're trying to make. Which is otherwise a pretty sound point - but if it is a fabrication, or a less than positive response right out of the gate makes you pissy, your point is going to suffer.

While I agree that people should be able to leave their ego and use the best method they can in order to convince people or discuss something, I also don't agree that the way someone says something should be a reason to not listen to an argument. We know there are good ways to phrase arguments, but we also know they good arguments can be phrased badly. If the reason you don't take to heart the points of an argument is because they said it in a mean way, you're not any better.

It's basically the same for trump supporters. The online ones, like online sjws, are garbage. Most trump supporters I know in real life are fine. I'm not certain I know any full on sjws in real life, but I know people with blm signs and they too are fine.
