- Sega Dreamcast vs Nintendo GameCube (you can only have one).
I jumped ship to the Gamecube as soon as the Sonic Adventure 2 port came out.

I love my dreamcast but the gamecube is better and it's not even close
|
GCN cuz it got all the great Dreamcast games anyway lol. Both Sonic Adventures, Crazy Taxi, Skies of Arcadia, etc

Dreamcast is the console I miss the most out of like, any console.

I like the DC more, but the GameCube is arguably the GOAT system for me. For the times, going from DC to GC was smooth and extremely satisfying.
DC was great because it was like a smorgasbord of new, experimental IPs, and since it borrowed so much from the Naomi arcade setup, you got a bunch of arcade ports. It has a unique feel to it. But sadly it failed, and most of the great DC games went to the other systems. GC got a bunch of upgraded ports on top of all the Nintendo greats, thus GOAT.

For me, the preorder perk of the Vector Star Wars game that came with Rogue Leader II. Which is hugely personal to me. The First Pikman!! But ya, I either played the GC a lot, or forgot I had it. The Dreamcast, on the other hand, is timeless. If you are into that sort of gaming.

And that's barely a start. Better question: The fuck did the Dreamcast have that didn't go to the Gamecube?

Better question: The fuck did the Dreamcast have that didn't go to the Gamecube? People who love to laugh at the Dreamcast library are the people who are only aware of about twenty Dreamcast titles. What didn't go to the Gamecube? 4x4 Evolution, Blue Stinger, Ecco, Headhunter, Metropolis Street Racer, Ooga Booga, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Super Magnetic Neo, Toy Commander, Time Stalkers, Space Channel 5, Rez, Slave Zero, Outtrigger, Illbleed. Just to name a few.
I faced it all and I stood tall- And did it my way.

Unless you're blinded by nostalgia, there's no reason to pick Dreamcast.
That said, I pick Dreamcast lol

Had Sega not gone under, the Dreamcast likely would’ve been more successful. Sega was ready for online gaming, and Nintendo wasn’t.
That being said, with benefit of hindsight and all, GameCube was better - even has plenty of Dreamcast ports on it.

But to say the Dreamcast doesn't have a place in the 6th gen is wrong. Sega always pushed the boundaries. They have been way more innovative than Nintendo. But as a price for that, they are somewhat the victim of their own success. ((As well as piss poor marketing post Genesis/Megadrive years.))

Gamecube, by far.
Dreamcast has great games and I love the system but the GC library is much, much bigger and full of better games. You got lots of 3rd party games in the early days of the systems life, some of Nintendo's best work (Windwaker, Twilight Princess, Sunshine, Double Dash) not to mention IMO the greatest game to come out of that era of gaming (Metroid Prime and its still awesome sequel) and the 3rd party exclusives like Baten Kaitos, ToS, Resident Evils, Factor Five games... PLUS the Gamecube had the GB Player which increased its library X 10.

Dreamcast's best fighting game was the broken MVSC2 that no one plays anymore, while Gamecube has Melee which is still played at EVO competitively.27_Sandman_40 posted...bulletproofvita posted...

Yeah. Shenmue aged terribly. Almost every sandbox game released since GTA3 is vastly superior, and still many people find those games lacking in content.Ammonitida posted...SiO4 posted...
