Kaybee was fun to go in as well but so much smaller than Toys R Us.

I agree, Toys R Us was for rich kids.
Kaybees was better. I still remember buying supper cheap Atari games there during what people now call the crash. ((Which to this day I still think is overblown.)) It was a realignment, not a crash. That and actual gen 1 Star Wars action figures, etc. But ya, Kaybees felt much more personal.

KB was always more expensive for me.
I loved TRU as kid. Going up and down all the aisles seeing all sorts of cool toys and figs. Every time I found something I wanted it felt like there was something even better I’d see in the next aisle. And don’t even get me started on the video game stuff back in the day. When they did the ticket system, where u had to take a ticket off the shelf out of these little pocket things to then get the game at front. Nothing more stressful as a little kid than getting to the video game section and seeing the tickets for a game I wanted all gone. Only to search through every different pocket where they stuffed them in and find the last ticket hidden behind a different game listing. Fucking magical |
This is sad news. I loved Toysrus as a kid. I bought so much stuff from there. Lego sets, nerf guns, power rangers megazords, transformers, creepy crawlers, video games, etc. I'm going to miss it.

KB was a really condensed, pricier TRU. I remember their slim videogame selection being behind the register for $10+ above the MSRP.

Back when ps2 came out, and was an absolute bitch to find, my dad and I found one at a kaybee in the mall and rushed to get it. Kaybee had a reliable knack for having harder to find shit.

Overpriced garbage store that badgered you for your phone number and a credit card application in order to even make a purchase. And they paid their employees really low.
The company deserves to fail. Good to see no bailouts or whatever bs going their way, this is what should happen to companies that act like TRU does. |

Nah I love TRU, but in hindsight they're a pretty bad store, are generally further out than most other stores, and they have shit discounts. I'll miss the memories and I feel sorry for those who lost their jobs, but eff TRU.

I remember those long as lines at KBs that would go up and down the ailes lol.
I loved Toys R Us too, there is one by my house so I'd always beg my parents to take me. |
To all the people bitching about TRU, I ask, how often did you actually set foot inside one? Cuz Ive been going on a regular basis as an adult for the past 5 years. Their prices are 100 fucking percent on par with places like Walmart for newer releases.
The only real difference between them price-wise is that Walmart/Target put stuff on clearance more frequently because selling more than toys, they have smaller stocks and want to move products more quickly. The standard prices were all basically the same on a regular basis. Hell in my experience Target tends to be the priciest for stuff like Transformers and TMNT figures, not TRU.

I remember buying video games at Toys R Us long ago, the pokemon trading club they used to have, and the pokemon events. KB toys going out was sad, and seeing Toys R Us following them into the grave is just tragic seeing as there really isn't any toy store around anymore.
Wal-Mart, Target, and other stores have toy sections but KB and Toys R Us had all the latest and greatest toys kids wanted. Have fond memories of the location near me and it has been there for all atleast 20 years with good people and helpful employees. RIP Toys R Us

I agree, Toys R Us was for rich kids. For me it was the "go to look around but not actual buy anything" store. Although I did get some cheap SNES games late 1990's. |

To all the people bitching about TRU, I ask, how often did you actually set foot inside one? Apparently not much since they’re going out of business. It’s a shame that kids don’t play with plastic anymore. I feel like we lost part of our society. Children who only know video games have to be less imaginative. No more making army bases out of whatever is laying around the house. RIP plastic action figures. You took Jeffery the Giraffe 🦒 down with you. |

“I don’t want to grow up, cause if I did, then I couldn’t be a Toys R Us kid!” They didn’t tell me that it was because in the future all Toys R Us stores would be closed forever. 😢 |
Part of the problem it seems with most of you is you went there expecting to buy videogames...
It was a toy store ffs. That said yeah, TrUs was expensive a hell.

Brandon said in the call that these vendors and shoppers "will all live to regret what's happening here," according to The Wall Street Journal.
I hate a sore loser...I really do. It sucks to see TrUs go, but don't be an ass on your way out.

Besides Amazon or Dorkside, i was surprised that last year Toys R Us had a few Terminator 2 NECA figures along with at least one or two of the new figures of the old Ghostbusters movie like the Taxie ghost zombie and the Library ghost but they were expensive as usual since it was Toys R Us.
