https://www.dol.gov/general/topic/wages/wagestips
A tipped employee engages in an occupation in which he or she customarily and regularly receives more than $30 per month in tips. An employer of a tipped employee is only required to pay $2.13 per hour in direct wages if that amount combined with the tips received at least equals the federal minimum wage. If the employee's tips combined with the employer's direct wages of at least $2.13 per hour do not equal the federal minimum hourly wage, the employer must make up the difference. Many states, however, require higher direct wage amounts for tipped employees. |

I never tip. And then you complain about poor service because your local restaurant is understaffed because those damned entitled employees got better jobs.

@Godnorgosh Replaceable by other employees "who should get better jobs," of course.

Not tipping is like not vaccinating your kids. Sure, you don't have to do it, but you're totally fine benefiting from lower prices because everyone else tips, right?
And then eventually enough assholes will start doing it that my Cheesecake Factory meal with have a 15-20% mandatory gratuity and I will never again have a server that's motivated to please me.
you are not alone

I never tip. Unfortunately, the companies made it your problem because they could. If you don't like them doing that, stop supporting them with your wallet. They don't care if you are a shitty person who doesn't tip. They only see that you spent money at their place and that tells them you approve of all their policies no matter how many complaints you submit.

Don't like it, get a better education/job. You seem to be missing the point that if everyone took your advice and actually found a better job, there would be no one left to serve your food. Respect the people working to please you or just stay home.

Yes, I'm sure literally billions of people just choose to do shit work and are happy with that and aren't working bad jobs because those are the only ones left.

A new topic, but let's roll with it. 1) Only racists want to keep them out. 2) We were immigrants once before as well, don't be a hypocrite. 3) Let them in, take care of them, promote diversity and give them a chance to work and improve their lives. 4) It is wrong to assault women and children with teargas. 5) Trump should be fired. |

Look, I’m a server and the irony is that guests who take up most of my time with unfathomable modifications, 4+ refills of water each, making me cut their personal pizza because it wasn’t “sliced all the way”, adding free cheese to their burger because they forgot to ask and I decided to hook them up...these are the guests that leave shitty tips, as in $4 on a $102 tab (yes, this is an actual table I had yesterday). Meanwhile, 6 of my other tables last night managed to tip me 18% or more. You look cheap and moronic when you’re a grown ass man or woman, you come to a sit down restaurant, and you fail to understand or accept the social norm that it’s customary to tip. If you can afford to spend $102 on food that’s been obviously marked up, you can surely afford to help your server out by paying for their service. You know damn well they were serving you and trying their best with the expectation of a tip, and you robbed that from them. But like I said, you only look cheap in the process. Eat at home or go to Subway if tipping is too much of a burden. |

And yet you’re still a shitty person when it comes to leaving a tip? Don't you love this logic, let's recap why I hate people who cry about leaving a tip. Let's closely examine this sentence here. Because I do not tip, I am a shitty person. Wow, I wonder why I hate people who expect these handouts and bitch about a lack of tip. |
