Just two articles below this one on CTV's website there is an article that says 38% of Canadians struggles to make ends meet month to month. Why is the focus on spending so much money on so few Syrians while the average Canadian taxpayer is struggling to pay the bills? Why isn't the government helping Canadians? Are the Liberals purposely trying to anger the taxpayers? Very divisive!

If there are currently hundreds of thousands of refugees waiting to be relocated and Canada is taking in 25K-35K, I have to think that there will be more than enough families to fill our quota without taking the'single men' population.  Or will the Liberal government do another turn around and again increase the number of refugees to justify this? My head is spinning from the number of about turns

I guess I would be excited like all these Government employees if I was going to make a killing in overtime and paid time off. How much for the national three day conference alone off hundreds of people in Hamilton. The private sector volunteers will be paid nothing working side by side with Government employees who will be paid handsomely.

We have a huge country with lots of room and we need a population 10X that of what we have now. BUT, we need Immigrants who can contribute to growth over a period of years, not a lot of so-called refugees who won't fight for their own countries but will happily drain our resources. We should be spending those millions to help our own needy people of  whom there are a vast number.

Just a few statistics   1out of 7 Canadian Children , 967,000 live in poverty in our country.
38,2 % children in Ontario of single parents live in poverty.  WOW. Our gov't pledged to end poverty among children 25 years ago. But Who Cares? We are a versatile country, we take in 25,000 refugees who are putting us at risk and forget about our own. of course that's a lot of votes next election????

Yup.  Poverty exists in Canada.  Very few taxpayers, and even fewer conservatives, are willing to let their taxes be used to help others get out of poverty.  Fact is, if we wanted to, we could eliminate poverty, could eliminate involuntary homelessness AND take in these refugees, with no problem.   Are you willing to help?

"For the first time in more than a decade, we have a government committed to refugee protection," Bond said.

It would be even more exciting if people like Professor Bond could keep the politics out of this and focus on the issues. The reality is that the CPC had a very generous refugee policy which the Liberals appear to be maintaining.

What I do resent is this government who are forgetting about its own citizens who need help and focussing in so much on the refugees. Ontario has cut medical benefits for seniors and have delisted OHIP funded procedures but are ponying up millions so that Wynne can impress Justin.

100 million dollars can go a long way creating jobs for native Canadians. I'm tired of my tax dollars being spent bringing immigrants/refugees into our country who will take some of the few jobs available from us. Doesn't seem right. Instead of immigration more should be done to help native Canadians have larger families.

I think that the issue of so many refugees coming in a short span of time has made people speak up. I know that many of us have been helping the less fortunate for many years by volunteering, giving clothes/food to the homeless. I personally do not have funds to help with housing so if the government has all this money to help support refugees, people feel that our homeless should also be helped.
