For sure. My parents made "too much money" but were not going to pay for me to go to college, so I joined the Army, went to Iraq, and then came home and got my engineering degree. I'm not sure I would call that privileged, but don't think I would do it differently either. Basically anyone of any race, can join the military, work their way through college, and/or take out loans. If you are unwilling to work for what you want, then it's your own damn fault.
