I'm a long time forum reader. Gfaqs was my start, then I shifted over to GAF. Now that it seems like it's gone , I have a very serious question. What's the next best way to get my on the minute gaming news? Anything that broke in the industry, I could load up GAF and see a topic on it. Where do you guys go? I've come to this very board to see if it had up to date news, but unfortunately it doesn't. Reddit is horribly disjointed. The best thing about GAF was being able to quickly see everything that was important to me in gaming. Where do look now? Go back to multiple sites? Maybe I should make a RSS feed. This is crazy and I feel lost lol

That said, the site is so big that I think that Evilore will be forced to basically step down and sell the site and it'll eventually go on in some other form under new management. It's not just gonna vanish wholesale most likely. Until then, just gotta wait and see.

I haven't seen any website mourning the website instead of tribalistically cheering on its obliteration (are people afraid of appearing to condone the admin's reprehensible actions?), often saying any user who visited it is a rapist or pedophile, when almost all of them are just people that want to talk about video games, most likely because their old website died due to internet conglomeration/reddit. Hint: GameFAQs is one of them. Half the time GameFAQs is mentioned, dozens of people post fondly about its golden days. More people than even post on NGG today.
NGG literally has nine topics that have posts from the last hour. It is not a huge hub of the internet or brimming with different people, it's not a substitute. I personally don't know where the fuck to go at this point for a fast board. Your experience will vary obviously, mine was terrible. I think it’s pretty fair to say objectively the sites moderation was incredibly petty. I got banned for not replying to someone once. There’s countless ban message screen caps that resulted in threads about specific topics becoming complete echo chambers.

GAF was the absolute best best on the entire internet to obtain news and information as far as I'm concerned. It was so quick to load up the gaming page and see every single piece of breaking news. It was a large site with many positive communities that didn't have anything to do with GAF politics or any issues with the mods and losing that is still a big blow. A lot of good people essentially had the rug pulled from under them through no fault of their own including many of the mods there. GAF wasn't some monolithic entity that everyone who posted there was a part of. I strongly disagree. NeoGAF's become a very negative force. It encourages and even demands a culture of unjustified witch hunts; supports forced "diversity" in video games; propagates a horribly misguided view of what constitutes racism and sexism, that is in itself racist and sexist; and it breeds a mindset that runs counter to free artistic and creative expression.
There's almost nothing in this world that's entirely bad, and there are far greater evils than an internet forum, but NeoGAF has become mostly bad, which is why its disappearance would only help video games and even--though in a very small way--society. Unfortunately I don't think it's going anywhere for long, and if/when it comes back, I don't see it improving until people who love and work in games reject real injustice en masse.Rarely visited Neogaf, but the times I did, it was due to some of the most insane SJW stuff that infected gaming.

But there was plenty of good too. Plenty of niches it filled. I rarely visit gaming news sites so people posting interesting articles all in one place was great. And it was busy enough at all hours of the night I could hop on and read something in OT or catch up on a community thread I hadn't checked in a while.
The political stuff and the cop hate stuff grated on me after a while to the point where I just wouldn't go in threads dealing with police anymore because the same people would say the same awful shit and never get in trouble.
The good was really good and the bad was mostly easy to navigate around.
If it is truly gone I will miss the hype threads for things like E3, Nintendo Direct, etc. I will miss non gaming communities like the sports and wrestling threads, movie and game reviews, game sales, and definitely my amiibo obsessed brethren. I will miss individual game series communities like the DQ thread or the retro game collecting threads.

Doesn't really matter who ran it, gaf was a great resource with a lot of great posters and content. Spend time in the communities and you'd see that. I've known about NeoGAF, but I've not once had any desire to register. Or read the forums to any degree for that matter. I saw this coming a mile away. I can pick up on patterns really damn well, it's why I've loved games so much. Assholes, flamewars, and the genuine sincerity of having honest arguments that you can shake on the next day when its all settled is always going to be superior to the passive aggressive nature of a site like NeoGAF. And the leaders of the your church over there were the most corrupt ones.
Bottom line is this site is still the best place on the internet to talk about games. It's been that way since I made my first account here in 1999. The users here are smart enough not to let the SJW infestation start a slow rot. You'll get called out on bullshit SJW zealotry here. Because it's not honest discussion.
