No s***e. I would argue the POS was probably a Republican knowing how old he is, but regardless it should be clearly stated that this was unfortunately just a freak act of violence from a POS.

This wont stop POS Republicans from claiming he was linked to Antifa though since they go by "Alternative Facts"

I know right? Plus it's something ISIS would want to take credit for even if they had nothing to do with it.

It, in their opinions, makes them look strong. Not bat crazy.

That fact alone would make any rational person think twice about believing ISIS willy nilly. Duh. Some people don't like to think though.
The right (and even some on the left) will do anything to not make this a gun issue.

No they didn't.

ISIS is not known for faking claims of responsibility. At worst they claim responsibility for just about any sad loser who ever talks to them, which is to say they claim responsibility for ISIS-inspired terrorist attacks.

Given that track record I would take ISIS's claim of responsibility with more caution than you guys are displaying.

In the absence of evidence, I would point to the following warning signs that Mr. Paddock is an Islamic-inspired terrorist.

--No known religious affiliation
--Relatively socially isolated
--A connection to the Philippines.
--Antagonistic personality--verbally abusive toward his girlfriend
--A planning phase measured in months

These traits all either fit or allow the model of the alienated, disenfranchised individual who is vulnerable to conversion to radical Islam and recruitment by Islamic terrorist organizations such as ISIS. The major things that do not fit are his age and wealth. However, those two items might fit a model of terrorist financers and they certainly fit ISIS's model of trying to recruit people who don't fit the profile. And it's clear he financed his own terrorism.

While an Islamic terrorist motivation has not been proven, among the possible motivations, this is the one with the most evidence. I would be very slow to express any level of certainty about a competing explanation or criminal profile in the absence of a similar package of signs that fit that profile.

I see no reason to rule it out yet, and considerable evidence to consider it the leading explanation.

--ISIS claiming responsibility and ISIS's lack of history of making unsubstantiated claims of responsibility
--No known religious affiliation
--Relatively socially isolated
--A connection to the Philippines.
--Antagonistic personality--verbally abusive toward his girlfriend
--A planning phase measured in months

There's more. We have a similarity to the San Bernadino and Orlando terrorists: Mr. Paddock chose to carry out his attack at a location he was extremely familiar with. We're gonna need to pay attention to this. It's going to be harder and harder to stop future terrorist attacks as ISIS uses people who are so familiar with their targets they are essentially invisible.

New evidence and reporting has come to light to cast both doubt and light on the theory he was motivated by gambling debts. Interviews with fellow gamblers and those who study them reveals Mr. Paddock was a professional of the type who calculated profit margins from video poker. He was likely skilled enough to almost break even, and come out ahead on the complementary services offered by casinos. However, casinos have since made their machines stingier.

I was asked for a source for the claim that he went to the Middle East.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/stephen-paddock-las-vegas-shooter-middle-east-isis-police-cruise-latest-reveal-a7988746.html

Investigators claim they have not found a link to ISIS. They state they have looked at everything and not come up with a clear motive.

But there is a motive. It is simply that Paddock has chosen to cover his tracks.

The Antifa theory, I can see why people might want to test the idea, but it tests pretty poorly because of an absence of precedents. The ISIS theory tests pretty well because precedents are present.

Literally none of those are "warning signs of being an Islamic terrorist".

And the biggest problem with the nonsensical ISIS claim is that Paddock wasn't a Muslim. And the claim that "he converted secretly" is comical. ISIS terrorists pretty much invariably send out "martyrdom videos" pledging their allegiance to ISIS.
