The DACA dreamers should be treated for theirs own actions. They are not undocumented (since they are in a government program) they have no criminal record, they are educated or are furthering their education and they all have good jobs. There are millions of criminal immigrants out there selling drugs and just being a burden on society and instead you are focusing on the ones who are doing everything right.
I believe that Trump is going after the dreamers because they are an easy target. It means eight hundred thousand deported immigrants at once and makes him look like a man of action and his word. It is a warning shot really to scare immigrants. The illegals will go into hiding is the people who did everything right are not safe.

Where does the 5% figure come from?
While 8% of families owned slaves (per 1860 census - Source: http://www.civil-war.net/pages/1860_census.html), it doesn't make sense to include states which slavery was already illegal (free states). If you isolate states with slave owners the number increases to 27%. Over a quarter of Americans living in Southern states owned slaves. This is including a 3% outlier (Delaware), which if you remove the number increases to 29% of American families in slave owning states were slave owners (49% of the non-slave population in Mississippi were slave owners) A rather disgusting proportion of Americans owned slaves in states which slavery was legal.

this puts into perspective why reparations should never happen
punishing the children for the sins of the fathers and someone might argue "but white privilege! the country as a whole benefited from those sins so it can afford to pay" maybe true, but it is also true that the dreamers are benefiting and continue to benefit from what their parents did that they couldn't control
