I don't know, playing Gameboy in your free time instead of going outside doesn't really reduce your chance of seeing a real-life cow by that much. It depends more on where you live.

I could be outside all day and every day in New York City, or Philadelphia, and never see a cow because I'm in the city. Much like living in the country would greatly reduce my chance of seeing a crack addict in a parking garage at 4 in the morning.

Yeah, it's not like a majority of the population lives in densely populated cities that are typically devoid of cows or anything

Skewed metrics makes for a dumb generalization

I'm 24 and I live(d) in Kansas, so I've seen plenty of cows. Should I feel special for being an enlightened young person?

How can you not think that people losing touch with agriculture and rural living is somewhat alarming?

lmfao

You think these are just things that "don't matter" because you take them for granted?

No it's not

Actually read the article maybe
All it does is list the facts produced by the survey and then provide some alternative opinions at the bottom.

And all the survey's results show is that millenials are unfamiliar with agricultural stuff because of a lack of exposure. There's no shaming, no positing on what this means, barely any analysis on the behalf of The Telegraph (they interview experts).

I'm not sure if you're aware, but this is not in any way the same thing as people living more in cities and not being familiar with where their food comes from

That article has nothing to do with "not knowing where your food comes from." Because someone doesn't live by a farm or know turnips are grown best in winter, or doesn't climb in trees or swim in rivers they don't know where their food comes from? It's horses*** logic.

Young people aren't touch with how food is made. Wow, how reprehensible. It's almost as if mass cultivation has made seasonal produce a thing of the past.

I wonder if the people writing the article are at ease with the fact that all those cultured farm folk couldn't tell you the intricacies of how computers work or are programmed. I hope they feel shame for that.

Don't most people visit a farm at least once during a school field trip?

I have seen a cow being slauthered the old way. That means a machete to the neck and considering the size of the creature, nobody can chop it in one blow, so they just stand there tied in all limbs while writhing in pain bleeding from half chopped neck to death.

Still delicious tho

Tbqh it's not so much about literally knowing where the food comes from. That's not hard to grasp. Like, everyone knows food comes from a farm generally.
But the whole point of "knowing where your food comes from" is putting a face or image to the food youre consuming. Not for knowledge or guilt. But for gratitude. To remind you your food isn't some magic 3D printed substance (at least not yet :( ) but it used to be part of a living organism and that you should be thankful to eat it. Most kids don't make that connection anymore, hence why they're so f***ing spoiled.

if every millennial would just go out and see a real cow they would stop being so f***ing sheltered
It's a stupid article because "not actually seeing your food" doesn't mean you can't grasp where it comes from.

And growing up in a rural area doesn't mean you'll understand it better than those who don't, hence why it's a stupid article.
