The NYPD runs on . . . bodega coffee.

The police boycott of Dunkin’ Donuts is apparently heating up, as a sergeant was spotted Sunday walking into the 73rd Precinct station house with trays full of what appeared to be generic, corner-market brew.

“No D&D in the 7-3,” he proudly announced.

The brew-haha began last Sunday when a worker at a Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin-Robbins at 1993 Atlantic Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant refused to scoop ice cream for two 73rd Precinct detectives — allegedly because they were cops.

Police union heads called for a boycott of the national chain, and the movement has since percolated throughout the department.

Asked for directions to a Dunkin’ Donuts on Sunday, a cop patrolling Union Square said, “I’m not allowed to do that.”

A manager at the Brooklyn franchise apologized, but parent company Dunkin’ Brands claimed the store’s confusing layout led the cops to order at a closed register — an explanation that police unions have called “an insult.”

How does a store even have a confusing layout? If a register is closed, there usually is a message or sign on it stating so.

"Free" Donuts and Coffee and maybe the Dunkin's will get a bit more cop presence to ward off criminals. it's a dance that's been around as long as cops have existed, stores that give them freebies or discounted prices and special treatment are better protected against the criminals than stores that don't. Especially in big city areas.

If the police don't like it they can simply change occupation. Or maybe not wear their uniform to buy donuts. Or if we believe Dunkin Donut's explanation, they should just go to a register that's open.

It wasn't confusing, they just didn't want to make the cops feel worse about standing in the wrong place. Also the police union support Trump joking about police brutality but they complain about this.

The origin itself goes back to the fact that besides a few select diners there weren't many other places open overnight or early morning so donut places started letting cops stay there to buy stuff and file paperwork. That said, nowadays most donut places are closed by 11 pm. Still open really early though

Announcing it and making it a big thing is what makes it petty. The employee refused them service wrongfully. They could have used his as an opportunity to maybe turn that employees view around. Instead they likely solidified it by acting like this. They're not even allowed to give directions to a DD? That's even more petty and childish.

â€You can see on the security tape: they stand here for five minutes, while other customers were being served. One customer even ordered ice cream, and they must’ve not like that because they left the store,†he added.

Why do all the liberals seem so butthurt about this? Hmm.......very interesting.

THe police are crying even after the owner said sorry, and yet the people joking about this are the one's butthurt. How does that work now.

He has to make his qouta for the day on insulting Libs. That how the rights beat off.

Sounds a very petty response tbh.

Meh, boycotting is so common. It seems there's always something, anything, to be mad about.

Just the NYPD? There was a cop in front of me in line at Dunkin here yesterday, lol. We are far and away from NYC though.

How is this petty? Cops were refused service because they were cops. Other cops take business elsewhere. Seems fairly reasonable to me.

Announcing it and making it a big thing is what makes it petty. The employee refused them service wrongfully. They could have used his as an opportunity to maybe turn that employees view around. Instead they likely solidified it by acting like this. They're not even allowed to give directions to a DD? That's even more petty and childish.

A boycott is only effective if you tell people. As a kid I remember my mom telling anyone who would listen that Carl's Jr was evil as they wouldn't sub a milk for soda. The place near us at least changed the policy so maybe in my mind boycott seems normal.

They didn't get service because they were standing in the wrong place, and the story has video evidence. Moreover even with them being in the wrong the owner said sorry. So the store have always said sorry for the cop's mistake. So how is this not petty .

I didn't read the article just the op. If they have a tape and these cops made it up the thing is obviously dumb as hell and back on the original cops.

Cops played this wrong, they should have demanded something stupid/ridiculous in recompense for discrimination and memed themselves in to good graces.

A manager at the store disputed that account, saying: â€These two men in shirts and ties — who I later found out were police — must have never come to this Dunkin’ Donuts before, because instead of waiting in the line where you order, they waited at the counter where you pick up your order.â€

â€You can see on the security tape: they stand here for five minutes, while other customers were being served. One customer even ordered ice cream, and they must’ve not like that because they left the store,†he added.

The manager, who wouldn̢۪t give his name, wouldn̢۪t let The Post view the video.

    lol
I want to see that video because it sounds hilarious.

    Lol if this is true.

I was gonna say that boycotting donuts would probably do tremendous good for the American police force

But then it said they just switched to normal donuts LMAO

That Dunkin donuts and all of them across the country need to be shut down immediately, no need for blatant bigotry in this country. Damn shame a company decides who they will and won't serve.

If the police don't like it they can simply change occupation. Or maybe not wear their uniform to buy donuts. Or if we believe Dunkin Donut's explanation, they should just go to a register that's open.

So would you say that gay people need to be straight or act straight when they go into businesses?

As far as I'm aware, being lesbian has never and will never result in my rent being paid or the death of civilians followed by me getting a paid vacation.

That's cool and all but how about answering my question instead of deflecting to something else.
    TheVipaGTS 9 hours ago#100
Being a cop is a choice. Being gay or lesbian is not. You know what you're getting yourself into when you choose to be a cop. You have no control over the potential issues you can face when you are born homosexual. Next.

For the record I think it's s***ty to refuse service to someone just for being a cop. But that didn't even happen here apparently.
