iirc ce seemed to be supportive of gta onlines micro transactions the last time this topic was created. i have no f***ing clue why as its far worse than most of the petty s*** ce has gotten pissed over before.

I played GTA online on and off for a little while, don't really do so much because I don't have a dedicated friend group to play with, but even if I played it religiously Id never be able to justify spending money on that s*** lmao

Yeah I mentioned how f***ing out of control the micro transactions have gotten (and that's *really* saying something) with this latest update but CE seemed to just think it wasn't that big of a deal.
I think gamers have just gotten used to micro transactions at this point, which is f***ing sad. I'm really worried about Red Dead Redemption 2 as well.

I'm convinced that people who say this don't actually play GTA Online that much or at all anymore because the grind is so ridiculously huge at this point. Hell, there isn't even a grind for the latest update. There's a straight up free to play paywall in place now where you either have to pay 250,000 dollars to unlock an item to buy, or wait 3 hours in real time (and only in free roam) for said item to unlock. Also there are 48 of these items, and the order in which they are unlocked is completely random.

-200 dollars worth of Shark Cards doesn't even get you 3 vehicles now.For real? Or do you just mean good vehicles? It's not entirely true. The new vehicles all range around the 2,000,000 dollar range. If you complete certain missions you can lower the price around 500k. But in order to do those missions, you need a Mobile Command Center, which costs around 1,225,000 In order to buy a Mobile Command Center, you need to own a bunker first to store it in, which costs around 1,150,000 Now in order to modify the new vehicles, you need a vehicle modification bay in your mobile command center which costs like 955,000 And in order to unlock modifications to use on the new vehicles, you need to unlock them through "research" which either requires you to wait 3 real time hours in free mode OR pay 225,000 to "fast track" it and unlock it immediately. Oh, and you can't choose which modifications you want to research. The game chooses which ones are researched randomly. There are 48 in all. And you have to pay to actually modify the vehicle as well. So say you research twin miniguns and fast track it for 225,000. You then have to pay the price of the modification on top of that. So 100 dollars in shark cards (I'm assuming 200 is a typo, since the highest they sell for a single card is 100) would get you maybe 4 or 5 of the new vehicles if you did the missions to unlock the reduced price. But then you'd need to pay upwards of of 3.5 million in order to actually modify the vehicles to make them worth a damn. Then you would either have to wait 144 hours in free mode to unlock the modifications for use (although, not all of those unlocks are vehicle related. many are weapon related as well) and/or pay around 11 million to unlock them.

The microtransactions are bulls***, but this guy has a system to make 800k in 2 and a half hours solo which is pretty decent. The argument can be made that you still have to spend a s*** ton of money in order to have the coke warehouse and bunker in order to make this work, but honestly it sounds like TC has been playing GTA Online for a while so you should have these things by now. I agree, nobody should be buying shark cards at this point because of how bulls*** they're making the system but Rockstar hasn't made it impossible yet. |
I honestly waste a s*** ton of money on free to play games, dlc whatever. A lot of things people generally call a waste of money and even I know better than to buy shark cards.

I bought everything I wanted(note: not every single useless thing added) from the newest DLC and didn't spend a cent of real money to get them. And that's accounting for the new cars that are coming out the next couple of weeks.
Guess I just get lucky with my sales and deliveries in my businesses to not need a shortcut. Vehicle Cargo mission profits are ridiculous once you get into top-range only sourcing, and sprinkle in Cargo Warehousing, alongside CEO/VIP missions.

Or are you just bragging that you've played the game so much that you didn't have to worry about the price? Also, define what is useless or not because I'd consider the clothing useless, but not most of the research items. |
100 mil legit here. Update costs were around 40 million for everything (top range mind you). To give you an idea, at the time of my 360 save file transfer I only had that much after 2 years or so. Anyway, I dont regret the time it took to earn that money, nor spending it, but for the average gamer, just to play with the explosive sniper or Rocket bike its absolutely ridiculous.

I'm saying that not spending our time on the expensive, dumb virtual things allows us to afford the actual useful virtual things, plus some fluff here and there. People complain that things cost hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars in the game now, happily forgetting that we're also making hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars as well as long as you put in mild effort, and that the "best" things in the game =/= most expensive. Cars, for example. The best sports car in the game is still free, or at worst, 100k if you're not linked to the Social Club. One of the best super cars in the game is 700k to buy, and easily keeps up with the most expensive cars in a race. Million dollar apartments have the same functionality as 200k apartments, with only the location and layout changing. People are so used to instant gratification, and R* knows this. Hell, most of the shark card descriptions point this out as a subtle jab at people that want to skip the grind and buy all the frivolous s*** all at once.

If you wanted to buy even just the cheapest vehicle in the new DLC and change so much as the paint job, it's about a four million dollar investment MINIMUM for the bunker, mobile operations center, upgrades, and then finally the car itself. That's about 8 hours worth of grinding Pac Standard assuming you can get one run of the heist done in an hour. And that's just for one s***ty dune buggy. This isn't about "instant gratification" it's about not treating the game like it's your literal job. And you work for a WoW gold farm in china. |
This last update really pissed me off and a lot of fun is gone from the game now. You either have to have money to blow on shark cards or no life so you can grind missions all day. People defending this s*** are out of their minds.

Not if its locked. The game wont let you in even if the door is missing.
And if they dont have it locked they can boot you out whenever they want. And even if they dont do that, you cant actually save any car in your garage if its worth a certain amount. (over 100k I think) |

the only way GTA Online is playable is if you get a hacker to drop you a ton of cash and just fill garages with X80s to sell on patch day Last I heard Rockstar f***ed up on the last ban wave and banned a s*** ton of people that either didn't deserve it, were banned because they were given modded cash, or were banned because they were doing dupe glitches. Mileage varies on why the ban happened depending on who you ask, though. I think a lot of them are being reversed though.

This last update has really been too much. I could earn money pretty easily before but now there's a******s with way too much firepower and they make it very difficult to make deliveries or pick up cargo. And I'm not buying a Shark Card, so I'll be waiting for a double cash in missions or something event.
