So no one has been able to answer about NMR, what gives the tokens value? All I get are circular answer 'they have value because they have value'. Why are people afraid to just admit it makes no sense?

Or hedged every time BTC falls.

>Scientist writes AI algorithm for Numerai Hedge Fund
>In order to use algorithm for Numerai hedge fund he must possess Numeraire token.
>If AI algorithm is success he is payed (currently) in BTC and NMR. (Soon to be mostly NMR and ETH in September)
>Token is deflationary and becomes more scarce with each failed algorithm as it is destroyed when they use it to test their algorithm.
>The value comes because as the hedge fund is successful (which they appear to be) it drives the price of the desirability of the token for the scientists to own.
I dunno that's what I got from reading the white paper and watching some youtube videos. I'm probably off on some points. Basically if you make a thing that predicts the markets then you are rewarded with more tokens if your prediction was a success so you can write more algorithms to make more money.
So yeah pretty fucking circular. Scientists got a fucking boat load of this stuff prelaunch...if they were wise they just cashed out and said- fuck it cool free money.
