It's also from my understanding totally ok for British English whereas in American English it's a curse word...
Also Neogaf was pretty ok some years ago, but they probably became too big for their own good, plus it's true, the moderation and hivemind thing goes a bit over the top sometimes. I remember they banned this guy I really liked (Derrick) because he always compared every game with Deus Ex 2(I think?) and he didn't like other games because they weren't.. Deus Ex2... Or something. But he always explained his reasoning very well and he also said what he liked about these games... He just had great ideas imo... And they banned him, not because he didn't follow the rules but because "he's always so negative"... It's just hilarious. Why even have rules if you don't follow them. And since bish isn't a mod anymore it went totally downhill, he was like the guy who kept everything together actually reasonable and funny... The malka guy maybe owns the site, but he doesn't seem to have a vision or direction for the site and seems to be generally unlikable. And uninteresting.

If you ask me, GAF has somewhat rebounded for the better since several years ago when they had several issues with multiple mods that ended up leaving/demodded. There's a reason you couldn't go ANYWHERE on the internet without eventually seeing someone hating on Amir0x. Not to mention that one mod that would go way overboard and mod people for the most minor of stuff regarding women's issues and it was found out that they were sharing their mod powers with their significant other. I can't think of anything recently as bad as that "one-two punch" and the Iwata thing. Losing bish was definitely a blow though. But while no one's going to pretend that NeoGAF isn't liberally biased, the sheer hatred that the site gets from tons of edgy tryhards on the internet because they actually bother to mod their forum is just pointless. I was literally trying to find the thread on the "c-word" change and ended up with tons of those NeoGAF hate sites/threads all over the internet. Like seriously people? It's just a website. As far as the gaming internet goes I'll NEVER understand the hate-watching boner people have for NeoGAF.

I can't answer that the way you're hoping. For example there are several Twitter users that have been going all in with the "Trump and his cronies are gonna be arrested any minute now!" news and said news has also been mostly debunked (as clearly no one has been arrested or anything like that). And in the various news threads on NeoGAF as soon as someone starts posting news from those Twitter users other posters have started posting out that those guys are hyperbolic and at least one of them is kind of a nutcase so stop posting that stuff as if it were factual news.
Like I said before, NeoGAF definitely has a liberal bias but one of the major problems is that conservatives on NeoGAF get themselves banned not because of their opinions but because more recent conservatives have just gone all in on the conspiracy theory narratives which would get you banned from a lot of places. Especially since a lot of this stuff has proven to be legit dangerous like the Pizzagate guy who bought into it and went to the place with a gun looking for the secret sex basement.
I don't know if it's a "culture war" or whatever but the whole "us vs. them" mentality has all but killed normal discourse and both sides hunker in their bunkers while calling out the other side for doing the same stuff they're doing. I've always seen both sides as having valid points in the past but these days? It's nothing against conservatives themselves but there's simply no excuse for the nonsense going on now.
