- There are about 600 Switches on my local craigslist...
I'm about to throw one up on eBay. I pre-ordered it for in-store pickup at Best Buy, but then that Best Buy ended up not doing a midnight release. I tried Meijer (midwestern supercenter) and got one there at midnight. Was gonna sell the one I got from Best Buy to a friend of a friend for actual cost, but he never called me to let me whether or not he wanted it. So off to eBay it goes. Buy It Nows for $400 seem to sell almost instantly. I'll make about a $30 profit after eBay and PayPal fees.

I was waiting in line in the mall this morning waiting for Gamestop to open. I already had mine, I just needed accessories. One of the other people in line, who also had his system, was telling me about how at the midnight launch, one guy picked up 4 separate preorders all under different names. Once he got his system, he started scalping right then and there trying to sell for $450. Total dick move.

nobody deserves to get robbed. i help scalping, but some people are really trying to make ends meet. You'd really have to be desperate to buy switches and sell them at a high markup. Not condoning what they are doing. Yea but nobody is getting robbed....Not a single person who buys a Switch at markup price was forced to do so.

Lol, never buying a game or a system marked up by a douche bag. Nintendo is guilty for letting a******s like them thrive off of consumers. Duh! that has nothing to do with the manufacturers. Scalpers are scum of the earth. even XB and PS and other gaming and electronic devices and games are sold at a ridiculous price by third party A-Holes.

There's was actually someone selling one on Amazon last night for less than retail ($290, with $4 shipping). Considering there would have been no sales tax on that purchase, and sales tax in my area is 7.25%...that would come out to some actual savings.
Unsurprisingly, said Switch was sold within 20 minutes of me discovering it. |
A lot of scalpers did buy a lot of the supply just to sell since Nintendo scalping has been huge. There was a group of dudes with some of their GFs/wives in theirs 40s and 50s coordinating getting as much as possible throughout different stores today. One guy was one like "how many did you grab? I got 3".
But even after that, there's tons of stores here showing stock. So either they're selling on eBay, or only completely clueless idiots are buying it locally, or the scalpers are just not getting any sales. I'm gonna put a Switch for $400 and see the reaction right now. Obviously not gonna sell my only one but I want to see if idiots are still paying when Target and Walmart still have it in stock.

I never anticipated selling my switch but yesterday my coworker begged me to sell it to him and OFFERED me the extra 100. He came to Gamestop with me after work and we picked it up.
Even though I didn't get to play it yet, it was nice still getting to be part of the day 1 launch and buy the system. That extra 100 is going right back to Nintendo as soon as the next wave rolls out. |

Nintendo fails yet again. Nintendo isn't selling these systems directly. Blame the retailers for not controlling their inventory and selling 10 systems to obvious scalpers. The problem is these sites and stores not giving a f*** about the consumer. Nintendo is at fault for not producing more units, but the rest is on the retailers, period.

One guy had a switch and a nes classic for 800. I took his phone number and plastered it all over CL with cheap iphones, cheap switches, ps4's ect. Got bombarded with calls and texts.

Scalping in general is a s***ty practice, but damn are you people harsh. Hoping they get robbed? If you're butthurt over not getting one, you have only yourself to blame. There was plenty of opportunity to pre-order, and plenty of time to request off from your job (assuming you have one) to wait in line. Grow the f*** up already.

Still waiting for a NES classic system that's not scalped.
The reason there's scalpers is because there's always going to be someone willing to pay those outrageous prices and consumers/fans always end up on the losing side. It's basically the same principle being giant companies that create near monopolies on services (i.e. cable). Consumer: "Hey, I would like actual reliable internet service at a reasonable price." Cable Company: Nope, you're going to take our crappy service, high prices and horrible customer service experience, because we basically bought state laws that ensure competition will be wiped out and you'll have to go through us or do without" At least with scalpers, as a consumer you can always wait it out or simply do without and the market will dry up. Try doing that with a utility like internet and you're screwed.

Scalpels are the plight of Nintendo. I'm sure this happens with other things too but I only pay attention to it when Nintendo releases stuff. Scalpels are same sort of people that instead of getting jobs drive around collecting scrap to sell. Haha... I had to buy my NES Classic from a scalper but luckily this guy must have been new to the game and only wanted an extra $25 which I could justify.

True There was plenty of time to preorder i mean if they couldnt get one preordered in the 4 hours my gamestop had some available they took too long honestly i hope scalpers are financially unsuccessful in every endeavor they attempt for a solid 25 years minimum

Is this normal? That's pretty crazy considering they weren't all that easy to find unless you went to a store like within an hour of it opening or midnight last night. All asking for $400-$500 too. Kind of sucks for legit Nintendo fans But but but the system sold out cause it's the best system evar!!!!
