- Dead pixel out the box?
You'd think with how old LCD tech is we would have gotten to the point where we can avoid manufacturing them with dead pixels by now, I can't believe they are still a thing in modern electronics.

Dead pixels are not that bad with everything else. I've hardly gotten a dead pixel on a phone since like the Evo 3D Oh nice, you had that phone too? I still kept mine when I upgraded instead of selling it due to loving it's 3D features, shame that 3D isn't that popular anymore :(

Try returning it its worth a shot just hope they don't have any kind of daft policies, I once had a phone with a couple of dead pixels and they wouldn't replace it because the pixels were spread out policy was to only change it if they were in a group of 6 or more. Think it was a samsung cant remember for sure thought. Anyway its only one pixel but once you know its there your eye will get drawn to it best to try getting it changed at least.

Are these common with the Switch, or are they isolated cases? I'm getting mine later when I get out of work, but that looks pretty nasty, and I don't want to have to worry too much about getting one like that. I have two Switch units atm, and neither has an issue. Not like that's statistically significant among 2 million devices...

And yet there are so many people who couldn't even get there hands on a single Switch.

Honestly doubt it's going to be rare anywhere here. These things are going on Ebay for like 330€ (retail price). I'm actually very pleased with Nintendo because it seems that this time, they managed to get their stuff together and appropriately supply enough units. And in case you're wondering - I'm not a scalper. I'm not selling the other unit, I'm giving that one away.

But in US and Japan, they are extremely hard to find.

I always say these things have a screen defect instead of just saying dead pixels and they always take it back right away. Have had this happen a few times with tv's, 3ds, psp and vita and yes ive had all those come with dead pixels.

Got my Switch at Midnight, took it out of the box and...

Called GameStop this morning and they will do a replacement but can take upto a week because of the Switch being sold out. Sucks to wait, but glad its getting replaced. |
I'm actually here for another Topic, but since I found this Thread, I can stop by. It was more a coincidence I spotted a grey dead pixel near the right Edge of the Display. It's tiny and you only see it when you tilt the device. My New 3DS owns one, my Laptop owns one and now I welcome another device with a dead pixel. I can get over it since I know it existed since I received my PSP back in the days. If it's not right in the middle of the screen and glowing, get over it, you won't notice it after playing with it a little. Chances are higher you will receive a device with a serious defect. But don't get me wrong, a glowing stuck pixel in the middle of the screen is a reason to replace it at the Retailer or send it to Nintendo. But a 100% replacement is never guaranteed.
Also, for the people curious to send it in to Nintendo: They sure have a Dead Pixel Policy. I know it cause I wanted to know if it's worth to send my New 3DS in with the chance to receive a replacement maybe. Chances are high they send you a replacement if the dead Pixel is in your field of view (the middle). There have to be at least two or three near the edge of the Screen before they send you a new device. This is far more gentle compared to Sony, but don't get your hopes too high. Oh, by the way, Super Bomberman R rocks! |

this is my biggest fear. I agree. I just recently noticed a stuck pixel on the monitor my dad got me for Christmas. Drives me nuts.
Please let me know ahead of time when you want to be spontaneous.

nintendo_masiah posted...this is my biggest fear. You can fix stuck pixels. As long as its not the black of death and just a different color there is ways to fix it. I had something like this with my PSP years ago, downloaded a video of rapidly flashing random solid colors, look away by the way. It fixed it sometimes.

I remember having a dead pixel on my ds and nintendo did cover it at the time. Sent me a new ds and I swapped it out for my defective one and returned it. Not sure if the policy has changed since but they did cover dead pixels.

The big problem I have with my dead pixel is that you can't transfer save data. So we can play docked while waiting for stock but we'll lose all our Zelda progress. yeah this seems like such an oversight if you find out down the line you have a defect, you can kiss your saves goodbye if they have to replace it. |
