This is so stupid. Like seriously, that isn't cultural appropriation and getting mad enough to assault someone over it without being self aware that assault would be a worse offense is incredibly dumb.

Goes for 'liberals', 'conservatives', 'sjw', 'alt right', etc etc etc. Everyone just wants to attack what groups they don't like, which is why I won't identify myself as any one group. There are many parts of liberal, conservative, etc viewpoints that I disagree with and I don't want people to latch all their hate of these labels to me regardless of what my actual viewpoints are. The guy in this article is an a****** to attack someone because of someone's hair. You go ask most people, liberal or conservative or whatever, and they will agree. ...No clue why I'm even bothering to post this though. ...Meh I already wrote this might as well post it.

Despite the replies, I deliberately avoided attributing this to a group because that's not really fair in this case. However, this is a good lesson on why the toxic campus ideology and rhetoric of people who obsess over things like cultural appropriation and microaggressions deserves to be scrutinized. When you really believe it's an insult or "assault," as I've heard it before, to your culture when someone wears hair breads, and you're surrounded by people who echo this sentiment and think resistance is necessary for equality, you end up making idiotic decisions like this woman did.

Pretty sure the earliest instances of the t shirt was as an undershirt for us navy men back in the late 1800s. Werent a lot of minorities in the US navy then.
Does that mean non whites wearing t shirts is cultural appropriation?

Isn't the point of people of all cultures living together is to take things from other cultures while giving them things from your own culture? It's called a melting pot. And it only works when every flavour wants to melt.

In practice, it's a socially acceptable way to criticize white people for doing something that's completely benign, while hiding behind the mantle of "tolerance." If you hear someone whining angrily about cultural appropriation, there's an almost certain chance they're a racist.
