Maybe it was just my area but I was able to waltz into Walmart around 9am and I saw a few there. Best Buy had plenty, even after the morning hype.
I don't know, it just doesn't seem like NS is flying off the shelves and it sounds like a lot of retailers are expecting decent shipment flows. Yes, yes, you and a few other scalpers probably hooked some suckers but it seems like if you look, you can find a Switch relatively easily. How was launch for you?
People are afraid of what they don't understand.

Go check eBay. Switches are still selling for 450 plus. I saw a grey switch plus legend of Zelda sell for 600 about 30 mins ago. Scalpers are making money.

Yet prices here are $500-$600 on Craigslist. I wonder if people are actually paying that amount or its just overly ambitious scalpers.

I live in Southern California, and if you didn't have a preorder or camped out all day Thursday, you won't be getting one around here anytime soon. Put my extra one up on Craigslist for $500 and have got quite a few replies already. Like, a lot. Might raise to 600.
But yeah, it probably depends on where you live. Where I am, as well as surrounding cities, no possible way you're getting one from walking into a store. |

The EB Games I went to pickup my pre-order this morning didn't sell out of walk-in systems till an hour and 15 minutes after they opened and they were advertising limited quantities. I think if people really wanted one of these things, they probably found one somewhere.
I do have to laugh at scalpers being so greedy they bought up 1-2-Switch and are trying to sell that for a profit when no one wants to pay full price in the first place for it and anyone can buy the game on the eShop no matter how hard the scalpers try to eliminate supply. |

Like I said, there's always a few suckers to hook and that's great. It's not worth trying to flip, kind of a similar situation to the Wii U launch, demand is being met for the most part.
It's natural for places to sell out but I doubt there'll be NES Mini/Wii levels of drought.

Maybe Nintendo actually supplied their console like their supposed to We can always rule this one out. I think there's high interest in the actual console but skepticism about the games and support from the people I've talked to. My IT class were talking about it like it's the Nintendo's vita or last console bar the super excited professor, I completely disagree but I think Nintendo really has to bring it with the games.
Geforce GTX whatever, i5 something or rather, some sticks of ram, an SSD and a Hard Drive with stuff on it.

LOL ive been monitoring the prices on ebay, slowly climbing, where as when people were saying AWWW what a waste of time to make $10 profits (they were right) but depends on stock and what settles.
Its hard to wargame anything when its still 24 hours since launch. I am seeing some stuff sold out with "MAY" restock dates on amazon for the carry cases. It seems Nintendo never learns there lesson, but maybe they will after 30 years, or maybe this is just a first batch to hype up in time for the holidays. |

I got mine in the mail from Best Buy (but not my Wii U copy of BOTW for some reason!), I want to put it on ebay, but the prices don't seem high enough. Prices will probably drop tomorrow, too. Oh well, I'll just return it. Scalpers don't get burned like some butthurt fanbabies in this thread think they do.

I'm glad the scalpers got f***ed if they did, but realistically, they could always just bring it back to a store with a receipt or something...or just sell if for a regular price. They won't suffer nearly as much as they should...

I tried 3 different Best Buys, 3 different Walmarts, 2 TRU, 2 Targets and 2 frys and they all said they sold out quickly after they opened. Like right after or up to half an hour later. I left my house at 10 which I figured was too late anyway, I was up at 7:30 but somehow fell back asleep haha. but congrats OP and screw scalpers

So glad I cancelled my pre-orders. The writing was on the wall. This thing just isn't appealing to the masses. Only the hardcore Nintendo fans showed up, and it looks like they're just beta testing this faulty hardware.

^Sorry to hear you're one of the people with stock issues. It's definitely not unheard of but it's not so widespread this time.
It is a good season to release the NS, though. Tax returns! I feel less guilty about splurging if I get my money back (plus some) after tax return.

Turns out this little store got 36 consoles sent to them. I used to work there and they never would have gotten that many of anything, so it implies that they weren't short shipped for once.

im assuming you added your own local tax? the switch I bought was $319 after taxes.
or he didnt use his profit to buy his switch. you really cant telll a person how they view their money. as a scalper, theres money i set aside for what im going to buy and sell, and then money im using for me. if i go and buy 2 cars, and flip one for $2000 profit, thats still $2000 i made, its not even factored into whatever else i purchased, unless I sold it, and then used that money to buy my next car.
and dude theres like 6 1070s above $370, not including taxes. I got a MSI GAMING GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 brand new still in the box, on sale for $414, and didnt have to wait for it to be shipped

Funny you'd mention that, because yesterday around 11 I decided to go to Target on my lunch break, saw one lone Switch that no one had preordered, checked eBay to see one sell for $660, and that was the deciding factor in me getting a second switch

All my walmarts and various zip code searches on brickseek are showing units available. once place in NJ had like 167 count units, could be inaccurate as F though.
Not sure how accurate it is. But i went to 4 walmarts that brickseek said have over 10 units and they were all sold out.
