They can't use the trick they used with the Wii and WiiU for BC anymore since the Switch's processor architecture is wildly different from their previous systems, and it's far too weak the emulate the WiiU using software.
I do think it's bull that your VC purchases can't carry over though.

Yes, it's appaling that your Wii U purchases don't transfer over, but it's pretty clear that Nintendo only cares about bleeding its consumers dry, not showing any kind of goodwill or common decency.
Even my most peaceful and calm posts are somehow designed to belittle those that disagree with me even a little, get used to it~!

Every nintendo console has had some sort of BC with exception of earlier ones. Really, the wii u had BC, so should the switch. Heck, even the NSES had BC with gameboy for crying out loud

This is why PC digital is superior than any console digital: PC Digital games = Can be played on any new PC and PC part upgrade. Basically PC you can upgrade or buy new PC you don't lose ability to play the games bought, while console you sell old console you lose ability to play those games. To make it worse console gives no option to sell or trade games, even though they don't work on new console.

PC games once bought it is available on any new PC and PC part.
In my opinion console should do the same, once you buy a game on old console it should be available on new console. There shouldn't be any issue of games not availalbe or having to repurchase to play on new console. Edit If console can't do that then give console gamers choice to sell or trade digital games, that way it is fair.
