Dock Scratches Switch

Screen Scratching: I can now confirm a difference in the quality of docks.

As I've posted in a few other topics, my Switches screen gets marked on the bottom when docked. It is slightly tight at the bottom when being lowered into the dock.

I had also bought my daughter a Switch, but she hadn't opened it yet because she is at her grandmothers house. Well, I decided to open it anyway to see if her dock had the same issue.

It doesn't. My Switch fits perfectly fine in her dock. You can actually wobble it in there a little, whereas it is tight in my dock. There is definitely a difference in quality in docks and I just happened to get a s***ty one.

And before anyone says it, no I won't take hers. I will be contacting Nintendo support to try to get a replacement dock.

How would you check without docking the switch? Can you tell by sticking your hand in or something? Haven't got mine yet and I wanna make sure it's safe to use

So your switch is already scratched? If it is that's a bummer :/

WORST CASE, there are other docks for sale as well and you can use 1 dock for both consoles assuming you take turns or one isnt being used

You would have to dock it (very gently) to tell. It's not going to destroy your Switch right away. Mine is very, very lightly marked. I just worry about long term effects after repeated use.

If Nintendo refuses a replacement, I think I'm just going mod my dock.

I see. Thanks for the info!

Also, exactly which part marks the switch? If it's just sandwiching it too tightly maybe you could just loosen some screws, then you wouldn't have to send it back? Just a suggestion, but I'm by no means an expert

Yeah if there was not front facing cover it would work so much better

Will there be third party docks available? Pretty sad I have to ask that question

Even if its tight, the interior has two soft rails. They dont scratch the screen. They do put little smudges. People that are jamming their s*** in haphazardly are the ones getting scratches.

It does not matter if they are soft. If they are tight enough, they can make very fine scratches. An example of something like this: If you wipe a glossy PS4 or Xbox One with microfiber cloth too hard, they will scratch.

That is definitely not why screen protectors exist!! They are meant to protect your screen from everyday use etc. Not protect from sliding it in and out from a dock that is made from the company you bought it from. But yes i did buy one. Lol

im starting to get convinced this is the situation. ive seen so many unboxings with westerners jamming their joycon attachments without looking at the symbols, getting them stuck, unboxing the whole thing upside down and the screen falls out , ive seen so much crap

Yeah. He bought a unit to sell but decided to open it and take a huge chunk off the value. Makes sense, IMO.

It is hard to tell from the pics, but the pads on mine are tight against the screen, whereas hers are barely resting on it. I may have to make a video to really show the difference.

But. What is it that scratches the screen? Those plastic bars that stick out slightly? I just can't get mine to scratch my screen. Is yours scratched? You said it's tight. But did it scratch? Can you show pics if it did?

No, the pads themselves at the bottom are tight on mine. I posted pics in this topic already. It leaves smudges. When you wipe away the smudges, there are very fine scratches.

Only a Dope doesn't use a screen protector

You're not a cowboy badass fighting against the man... you're a clown waiting to drop your s***
and break it to then b**** and moan online. Even a s***ty tempered glass protector is better than no protector
Let alone a plastic film which are so good now adays you don't even see them or feel them.

But go ahead and tell me how that's not acceptable and scratch your s*** up LOL
IDGAF, mines protected and looking GORGEOUS :D
