Staff at Oxford University have been told avoiding eye contact with students could constitute "everyday racism".

It is included in a list of "racial micro-aggressions" that has been published in a newsletter by Oxford's equality and diversity unit.

It described micro-aggressions as "subtle, everyday racism" which can be alienating.

Great. On top of "What chu lookin at" we're gonna have to deal with "what ain't chu lookin at"

The newsletter said racial micro aggressions might include: "Not making eye contact or speaking directly to people."

Yeah well known that some racists avoid eye contact with different races since they don't see them as equals. Also "might" =/= always.
Try again

Other examples cited were "not believing someone is British", and jokes drawing attention "to someone's difference, their accent, or nationality".

But making fun of me for being Irish is f***ing hilarious ;_;

Yeah. Is there a guideline on how many milliseconds is enough to count as "not avoiding eye contact" but not long enough to count as "what are you looking at"?
There is no "would of", "should of" or "could of".

How come it's only the people on this board who are the most outspokenly "anti racist" who know all the ins and outs of what racist people do

I was aware the KKK has a policy against touching other races, but not looking g at their eyes is a new one on me

Because I grew up in a very racist area. Ireland is filled with casual racism.

Don't really see how this is a problem.

I think people get so caught up in the falsehood that racism can only mean you use pejoratives or believe they're worth less than that they miss the smaller instances like this.

Or maybe they just...didn't make eye contact. How can a racial motivation possibly be divined from this

Pretty soon will McDonalds have to pay hate crime damages if they got a black guy's order wrong?

Because they're the legitimate racists on this board. I noticed this after having tagged them for using racial slurs and other actions.
