It’s being reported by Sportskeeda that Kevin Owens wearing suits and calling himself, “The New Face of America” may not just be part of his character on SmackDown Live. Apparently, the suits are Vince McMahon’s way of hiding Owens’ physique and presenting him differently. There is a possibility of him wrestling his matches in a suit going forward. Vince McMahon is said to be “fed up” with Owens being overweight and not lifting weightsthe way he’d prefer which is why he felt that the suit was necessary. Owens shaving his beard was another request fromMcMahon. Kevin Owens is the United States Champion, which shows that WWE officials are still firmly behind him as a top guy despite his physique. The fact is the WWE Universe doesn’t care as much about how a wrestler looks. At the end of the day, it’s all about performing in the ring.

I don't buy this report......look how fat Samoa Joe is.....and there were reports of how impressed Vince was with how much merchandise he sold when he first came to NXT and had big plans for him.

For those of you that aren't buying it, remember this is the same guy who thought Steve Austin had no real potential and only hired him because JR kept hounding him. Even then he saddled him with a horrible "ringmaster" gimmick and had Dibiassie manage him because Vince felt he couldn't talk. Some of the people on this board give Vince waaaay to much credit. I totally buy this story. Sounds just like Vince.

I mean, on some level, given some of the past stories we've heard about Vince and his wacky and flippant attitude, I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't completely false, but at the same time, he just came off a 5-ish month world title run, and was immediately given another (albeit, midcard) title, is in the midst of some sort of character "renewal", and is about to enter into a feud with a guy who many perceive as the main attraction of SD right now.
So, if Vince is "fed up" with KO, I can't say he's really showing such in the booking thus far. If it were that big of a problem, he probably wouldn't have won the world title in the first place, he'd probably have jobbed to Jericho, and he'd be getting depushed and losing mic time/ TV time. And truth be told, I don't see what the issue is, anyway. Aside from the geeks who feel the need to overexaggerate the things about the workers they dislike, KO's look is totally fine. He's not morbidly obese, he's not any more unpleasant to look at than guys like Joe or Bray, and his ring gear is totally fine. Granted, Vince's measuring stick for "main eventers" is usually guys who look like Cena or Roman, and that is what it is. But KO's look is nowhere near as bad as some people try to make it out to be.

Why people think it's sensible to blame WWE's lack of "casual" appeal on any handful of specific workers, I'll never understand. WWE has no shortage of "good looking guys" at the top of their card. They constantly push Roman and Cena and Orton, they heavily feature part timers like Brock and Taker and Triple H and Rock when they're available, they've tried many times to push guys like Sheamus and Del Rio, etc. If WWE was going to win over the casual audience with "guys who look like wrestlers", they would've done it by now. It's not like casuals are tuning in to WWE, seeing Kevin Owens, and going "Nope, doesn't look like a wrestler, I'm out". Casuals are going to be drawn in more by good, consistent storytelling and interesting, entertaining characters. WWE lacks "casual appeal" because their creative direction has been very lacking for many, many years.
