I've heard a lot of problems with this thing and dismissed them, but lo and behold my Switch is definitely warped now from the dock heat.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Pics?

I'm at work right now and don't have an imgur but maybe I can later.

I have no reason to make this up. It's not even that bad but it's definitely warped a bit.

It's shell is made of plastic and that's what seems to be warping.
Wasn't the bending thing debunked already?

Like I said in my OP, I was skeptical of all these problems with the Switch myself. But this seems basically unavoidable if you ever play the thing in the dock. Most may never even notice it.

I mean, how many s*** stained controllers and games do you see at gamestop, from owners that dont give a rats ass about this type of thing?

Like, if you're the type of gamer that will just jerk off then eat cheetos, smearing your filthy hands all over it you're not likely to care about this.

But to anyone that takes a small amount of pride in their luxurious purchases and keeps your games as close to mint as possible, I could see this being a dealbreaker. It's just not a very well made product if it melts itself and scratches its own screen, not to mention the hardware flaw they had to fix.

This. OP, did you feel the Switch overheating? The dock contains nothing but a USB-C to HDMI and USB ports, what would be in the dock that make the Switch that hot? What's mostly likely the case is that the dock isn't manufactured properly so sliding the Switch in would bend it a bit.

Doesn't the dock overclock the innards making the system run hotter?I have no issues with mine and have extensively played docked, just notice that anytime i hold it from being docked its hot.No where near melting plastic hot though.

Your post is literally the dumbest thing I've read all week. If you encase a warm object inside another object, it will get hotter than it would if it was not encased. The dock is manufactured properly, and no sliding it in would not bend it at all. Also, being in the dock makes the system function differently, potentially allowing it to get hotter than undocked.

Do you even own a Switch to have any clue what you're talking about or just talking out your a****** like usual?

We all own Switches, you aren't special and it has been proven here repeatedly that the Switch does not run hot enough docked to compromise the structural integrity of any components to warp. It runs cooler than cell phones do when playing games, have you ever seen a warped iPhone from gaming? Exactly. Now shut up. You're wrong.

Are you seriously insinuating that this tablet, which wasn't a problem to hold, is seriously going to heat up to the point where IT MELTS in between the dock? That would mean the dock is insulating heat really really well and you'd be able to feel it when you touch the darn thing.

Yes, Brandy, the Switch upclocks when docked. So, yes it uses more power and produces more heat. But we're talking about a case where the Switch "melts". This requires a hell of a lot more heat, one that would be noticeable to the touch.

Even this article brings in a thermal camera to see just how hot it gets in comparison to other electronics.

Don't be so dense and quick to argue semantics. It's not like the thing melted into a pile of goo. It warped due to excessive heat, slightly bending the unit. You don't have to believe me I don't give a flying f*** kid.

i dont let the thing rest and no melting or overheating, do you give it proper ventilation on a DUST FREE room? you know like most electronics, unless a system have liquid coolant system needs to be well ventilated and free of dust.

Lol I don't think it qualifies as semantics when your title is my switch melted. I don't know what's causing some people's to warp and some people's to not but in the link provided that you smoothly ignored it shows the Switch at 107 Fahrenheit with it running as hard as it currently can. This shouldn't be hot enough to warp the switch if it's just sitting there. Maybe variances in the batteries are causing some to swell and cause the warping?

Lmao that's not how it works. The heat issue was debunked. It's not up to anyone to prove something doesn't exist, burden of proof falls on the person claiming it does exist. You don't get to call people kids when you aren't old enough to know that, sorry buddy.

I also like how you specifically went to an example of the iPhone not warping to prove your point. The outside of the Switch might be plastic but that is around a metal casing, so you've proven nothing pointing out that the iPhone is metal. Sorry again, but you don't know s***.

So now that I've explained to you what burden of proof is and how it works, are you going to prove that the Switch gets hot enough to warp it's inner metal casing in the dock? No, you're not, because it can't.
