The German Police has raided the residences of 36 people accused of hateful postings over social media, including threats, coercion and incitement to racism.

Most of the raids concerned politically motivated right-wing incitement, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office, whose officers conducted home searches and interrogations. But the raids also targeted two people accused of left-wing extremist content, as well as one person accused of making threats or harassment based on someone's sexual orientation, the New York Times reported.

"The still high incidence of punishable hate posting shows a need for police action. Our free society must not allow a climate of fear, threat, criminal violence and violence either on the street or on the internet," Holger Münch, president of the Federal Criminal Police Office said in a statement.

The raids come at a time when the Germans are debating the draft of a new social media law aimed at cracking down on hate speech, a measure that an array of experts said was unconstitutional at a parliamentary hearing on Monday.

Did it occur to you they made these arrest during other raids? Second, your so called "Jihadist" sympathizers are also mostly internet s*** posters themselves.

Why do Governments believe that suppressing fundematal basic liberties like Free Speech and Freedom of Expression to be a Good thing?

This is only going to create resentment towards Muslims and Government.

It's futile though. Our modern world's foundation is hate towards others. It will only end at the predictable end of human annihilation.
I will try and see it from your point of view, but I doubt we'll be able to fit both our heads up there.

hate speech is hate speech.

It's definitely punishable. People think they have a right to run their mouth without consequence, when they don't.

If people want to run their mouth and incite people to violence then those people deserve to be punished. Just as much as the people that commit the violence.

If you're tough enough to run your mouth on the internet then you should be tough enough to face the punishment.

The fact that Germany doesn't grant its citizens the right to freedom of speech is what's being criticized. Simply pointing out the fact that they don't have that right is a total non-argument.

Freedom of speech =/= freedom to hate speech.

Even the Canadian charter of rights and the US constitution have those restrictions.

Once again, I'll repeat myself. freedom of speech doesn't mean you can say whatever you want, like "all homosexuals must die" or other extremist things.

Like the OP said:

The latter absolutely does not. Here's the relevant text of the first amendment:

Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press

No restrictions. Even if it did, that's still not an argument, it would simply mean that the US also doesn't grant its citizens the right to freedom of speech.

Internet trolls are sociopaths, they're the type of people that in the real world are too shy or too much of a coward to say anything in most situations so they hide behind a keyboard as much as possible.

In the real world most internet trolls would get punched in the face for half the s*** they say or probably get charged for harassment/inciting violence with the way they run their mouths.

Not absurd

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hate_speech#United_States

since the 1940s your Supreme Court has been passing laws to prevent hate speech. If your government or police don't enforce those laws that's a different story.

Perhaps I misspoke when I said it was in your constitution or whatever but my point still stands.

What's your point? If law enforcement of the US starts arresting people en masse for Facebook posts that would be abhorrent too. You aren't actually defending the violation of freedom of speech you're just deflecting.

it's not f'ed up because when you harass people in real life and keep poking them and prodding them intentionally trying to upset them, and they react with violence, that's what's expected to happen. That's why you hear a lot of time that cops don't press charges after they're called to a scene of a fight or they brush it off as "self defence." It's called having common sense. What people like you don't have. But I'm not going to entertain trolls like you anymore because you guys really are pathetic and sociopathic in nature. Keep replying if you want, but I'm moving on.

I'm not going to let you incite a reply from me by posting complete utter bulls*** simply because you know you'll go unpunished for it.

Have a good one.
