No one can tell me with a straight face that either party has my best interests in mind. Which would be a fine point if we were picking out one bill in particular and trying to dissect how the bill might have worked. When you look at a list this large which represents a party's entire platform and realise that objectively, they are not putting anything forward that benefits people, and instead exhausting all of its efforts to benefit themselves and companies that seek to profit from relaxed legislation, you have to wonder why your allegiances lie with them.
I can appreciate your allegiances if you are someone who earns say, $90 million a year from your big pharma company. But even if you are a red blooded plumber from Utah I'm not sure what you're seeing on this list that is excusable. Because this has nothing to do with rhetoric or identity politics. I assume you've taken up this line of thinking because you read Republicans voted against "Teen Pregnancy Education Amendment". Do you know what an Amendment is? It is a change to the current law. There's a simple dichotomy here that doesn't reflect reality. "Big government = bad and hindering. Small government = innovation and freedom." That's how they justify the net neutrality debate. "We need to remove industry oversight, so that tech companies can innovate freely". That is actually how Ajit Pai justifies gutting net neutrality regulations. Do you actually believe that's how this will work out? Comcast is going to use all that regulatory freedom to make your internet experience better?
You'll continue to gut every single failsafe in favour of the idea that you're freeing up money that will somehow go towards making people's lives better. It won't. All those dollars they'll save will go towards military spending. All the tax cuts will go to the 1%. There is no reality where all the "socialist programs" being repealed leads to people having more money in the pocket, unless the people we're talking about own a bank or an oil company.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that things don't work smoothly, and that programs get bloated and over-regulated.
