I heard people are actually scared of making eye contact and talking to GameStop cashiers?
|
No Gamestop is a crooked company with shady business practices. Has nothing to with talking to the mouth breathers/weebs behind the counter.
|
Gamestop is losing business because they are a shady business themselves whom are also harming game developers with their businesses. I haven't shopped in Gamestop in years and probably stay that way.
There's only three things in this world that will survive a nuclear apocalypse, twinkies, the cockroaches and Dixie Carter.

idc about anything that the cashiers have to say, it's the dumbass customers crowding the shelves that makes it unappealing

Here's 5 dollars for a 60 dollar games that came last year but we will re sell the game for 55 dollars and zero cents just because. -Gamestop-

They are going out of business because they are expensive as hell. They RARELY if ever offer a new release for less than $60, while you can get any new title for 20% off with Amazon Prime or Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked. Their reward system is borderline worthless as well. Also they usually have the worst priced bundles for the holiday season. They will discount them some, but they are always found cheaper at Best Buy, Walmart or Target. TLDR they are too damn greedy and people are wising up to it.
|
digital games and better services from bestbuy and amazon contributed to GS' downfall
|
No. They're losing business because of s***ty business practices.
|
I like chatting with them. I gave up on them because with Amazon Prime you get 20% off new releases and they deliver it on release day. Since I have a job, there's no reason for me to bother getting it earlier in the day than it would be delivered.
|
Frankly, and I know it sounds s***ty, but I think I am just plain too old to go into Gamestop. Also they cancelled my Switch preorder at the last second so f*** em anyways
Not changing this until the Vikings make it to the Super Bowl Started 4/10/2013

It's also because of everything they want you to sign up for

Powerup Rewards is a joke. It should mirror GCU from Best Buy. It should cost $30 and it should give you 20% off every game in the store (maybe even used). f*** the magazine and f*** the stupid rewards points. Wooo hooo i got a $5 reward certificate for spending $250 in store. Thanks for nothing a******s.
|
I haven't bought any real games there since I got GCU at Best Buy.
You haven't set a signature for the message boards yet. Might wanna get on that, yeah?

I'm planning on signing up next month. I figure between Mario Kart 8, Arms and Splatoon 2 it will have paid for itself. Everything from there is money back in my wallet.

I paid mine off after buying 2-3 games. Best thing is that it works on ALL new games, not just new releases.

It's apparently getting revamped in May. Hopefully it's an actual significant upgrade and not just them restocking keychains.

Yep. Plus it stacks with other deals and stuff. And double reward zone points.

When they asked if I wanted to sign up for their reward program I tell them no, and they usually left me alone. I worked for gamestop during my high school senior years 08. The cashier hate pushing the reward program as much the client hate being asked about them, they don't have a choice in the matter because if they don't sell memberships or pre-orders they'll get fired. You could be the most polite down to earth cashier in there but if you're not selling what gamestop wants you to sell your ass is canned. Girls are more safe of this rule than the man as girls provide for eye candy to keep most of the men coming in. Plus managers get sexual favors from them in exchange of keeping their jobs. At least that's how my manager was when I worked there.

If it doesn't offer a % off new games, it's still worthless. Maybe 10% since it doesn't cost $30 like GCU, but I'm not even sure that's enough at this point.

I could either say no to signing up for a dozen programs, or I could order the game off amazon or digitally download it and not have to deal with it in the first place. It's not a big deal, but if there's a way to avoid it entirely plus save myself the trip, why not go for it?

I quit going there because they gut new copies and sell them as new. Also they try to push preorders and other junk way too hard. I just go to Best Buy now.
Everything will be alright.
