That's pretty classless to attack someone's mental illness, if true. not that I expect class from WWE, but they would side with the noted bully (JBL). So I guess I'm disappointed, but not surprised.

For the most part federations that go out of their way to be edgy (XPW, early CZW, Attitude Era WWF, late WCW, FMW, etc.) are generally pretty s***ty, classic ECW and InterSpecies Wrestling are the only ones who've done it right in my opinion.

The whole thing started with Mauro bragging about winning some internet broadcasting award that said he was the best WWE commentator. (let that sink in for a second)
Mauro Ranallo then put out a tweet aimed at JBL that literally said "Jealousy is a hell of a drug".
A lot of people were acting Mauro was completely innocent in all this, a lot of Mauro's biggest defenders were acting like JBL was just being a dick out of nowhere.
Mauro Ranallo's arrogance reared its ugly head. He was really rubbing it in that he won this internet wrestling commentator award, he was acting like he was better than the other WWE commentators. JBL fired back and while Mauro Ranallo could dish it out, it turns out that he couldn't take. Then all of a sudden everybody started feeling sorry for him because he's bipolar or suffers from depression or whatever. Bottom line, Mauro Ranallo arrogantly paraded around the fact that he was the #1 wrestling commentator in the business, because he won some internet fan poll. Obviously that's not something you want to do at WWE where you have guys like JBL who have been there far longer than him.
JBL jokingly fired back and Mauro idiotically tweeted "Jealousy is a hell of a drug" which is just a bizarre tweet to make. Then he just doesn't show up without any explanation. "Bad weather, then the next week "depression"". Moral of the story, don't go around bragging that you are the best commentator in the WWE when you're a loudmouth rookie if you can't take the heat. Mauro is a loudmouth pompous nutcase, and I can't stand these people who are constantly defending him acting like he's been wrong or that WWE isn't being sensitive to his mental issues.
That's not to say that people struggling with mental illness shouldn't be helped, but if you have a serious mental issue, then you probably shouldn't be a lead commentator on a WWE show. I doubt Dr. Phil would take such an approach. Do you agree or disagree with my assessment of the situation? There are wrestling talk show hosts that I like and respect but are apologizing for Ranallo acting like he's the victim of JBL's bullying, and do not point out what caused the conflict. It was the internet poll that Mauro was lauding as he walks through the halls of WWE prancing around like he's the best commentator in WWE because this fan poll says he is. he's essentially rubbing it in that he's the best commentator lol. WWE employees don't take too kindly to that type of thing, making commentator a competition.
Then JBL is asked about it on one of those WWE network shows, so he pushes back, then Mauro releases the "Jealous is a hell of a drug" tweet that no one seems to ever mention. Then Mauro doesn't show up at work. Mauro's overly pompous arrogant style clearly didn't mesh well with JBL and the other commentators. If you recall, on Smackdown, the other commentators would constantly poke fun at the guy and call him out on many things. Ranallo had countless errors while on Smackdown. He would call wrestlers by the wrong name, he would mess up the names of PPVs, like it's unbelievable how many times Ranallo messed up on simple stuff that any WWE fan knows. Ranallo does have a small but loyal fanbase that argues he brings more excitement to wrestling, or he "calls moves" but at the end of the day that doesn't make up for having no chemistry with the other commentators and constantly being made fun of by them on and off air. I just think it's hilarious that he went around acting like this fan poll means he's a better commentator than JBL, and just expecting him to take that kind of belittlement then turn around and play the "bipolar, depressed" card and act like he was the victim of JBL's bullying. Mauro's exit from WWE is 100% his own doing, and WWE is the better for it. He was a terrible commentator that had no business being on WWE TV, and now he's gone.
