Back on the 360 people could talk trash and nobody ever got in trouble. Now, I guess Xbox Live has to be a hippie dippy, flower power, silicon valley, SJW "safe space".

And who are these people that's first instinct is to report people for trash talk instead of talk it back? It's Xbox, no one has ever hurt my feelings by talking about me on Xbox. Just talk trash back.

Guessing you just got hit with a ban?I think MS just gave less s***s before and the reputation of Xbox Live was that of a s***hole.Countless Youtube videos and such didn't hep either.I think they just decided they didn't want to have the reputation of being a s***hole anymore.

When Street Fighter 4 first released i would play all night and the next day it would take hours to sift through the s*** talking messages both text and voice. Finally during Black Ops 2 i ended up setting my s*** up to where i could only communicate with friends due to being too distracted by hate mail.

I think the policing really just started this gen.

I think it's good that they're more strict this time around. Trash talk usually turns into pure hate mail, people get way too serious and way too ridiculous with it.

As soon as someone sends me any threatening or salty hate message I instantly report it. Not only are they so mad in real life about me winning, but now they have a communication ban for a few days. It's great, act like a whiny brat, get treated like one.

Bullying, especially through internet communications, is vastly overrated as a problem in society today. It's a first world problem we've manufactured because we've run out of real problems.

While i agree with ms in regards to anti bullying measures, but on the other hand, there was once a scenario w friend of mine that was banned bc he cursed out a random crew member that was greifing our gta heist. After the 4th attempt, the guy left near the end of it, so he sent him some hate mail and reported him for it. Within the hour my friend recieved a week long ban. I checked over the next several days and noticed the greifer was still playing. Its not right. Its the same scenario whereas somebody can taunt and taunt and taunt someones dog, and when the dog finally bites the crap out of you, the dog then has to be put down? Yeahhhh okayyy.

Players who talk trash in game and are doing so in a way that is "serious", like they actually mean what they say get muted. Players who talk trash in a way that seems fun or funny or "not seriously" get heard and i may even talk trash back. I know this is subjective but it's how i do.

Any player who is stupid enough to enclose their trash talk in a message get reported and usually blocked.

It takes a concerted effort to earn a communications ban. I trash talk every once in a while but I don't cross the line.

Think of it this way: if you couldn't say it to a coworker without getting fired, then you can't say it on Xbox Live.

In fighting games specificly do you guys call out rage quitters? I don't mind losing but often when I'm about to win that's when it happens.

Played this guy in MKX earlier who was 27-0. He picks full auto Jackie and tries to zone all match. I take my time and inch closer to unleash combos and he has no answer for this. He quits right before I deliver the final blow. Not a normal quit that causes a quitality but a wierd "this session is no longer in progress" quit that lets him keep his perfect record and wastes my time on a match that goes no where.

Anti-bullying is bulls***. Society needs bullies or else the nerd population will grow exponentially. If you take away a species natural predator, its the end of civilization.

Not to mention, when did this war mongering country thats ready to launch nukes at the drop of a hat become so sensitive?
I get that its Xbox live and everyone has the right to have an enjoyable time and blah blah blah. What would you do if in person, someone called you a douche? Either laugh or tell them to f*** off, same applies for live because you would be a complete toolbag to walk up to a cop and say " Officer, that guy called me a douche".

Teabagging is not Homophobic, what the f*** are you smoking?

If anything at all, having an objection to someone else's testicles, digital or not, in your face is the Homophobic part.

The act of teabagging is in no way homophobic. If you are rubbing your junk on another dude, you are clearly not homophobic.
If you object to being teabagged, that could be considered homophobic.

    Whats the definition of homophobic???

I think homophobic and homoerotic are being confused. Homophobia is a fear of homosexuality. So if a dude is teabagging, he clearly has no problem with man on man action. This is part of what happens, people dont even know the meaning of words they are using as arguements.

Don't be an annoying a****** online and you'll be fine.

I don't just send messages without a reason.

Do you think I say "Well there's a swell fellow, let me just try to ruin his day"?

Trash talking to someone in-game, and depending on what you're saying, is one thing. Messaging them after the fact? You should probably just move on. That's not trash talking. That's harassment.

It's not harassment to send a person a message. Stop trying to elevate nothing into something. Stuff like this is actually a major problem in our society.

"You made 3 turns behind the same car, STALKER"

I'd explain how harassment is legally defined, but it would be a waste of time with someone like you. Finish a game/match and move on. Stop trying to hide behind the bulls*** excuse of "trash talk" to justify why someone reported you for being an a******. You got caught and punished and now you're crying about it. Take responsibility for your actions.

Yea yea yea, I get the whole concept. But lets take a step back into reality here. Same people who are playing M rated games, which technically are for gamers 17 and older, are for some reason offended by some hate mail when the game they are playing is filled with profanity, blood, sex, and violence. Come on man, its silly.
Its really about "this guy was a jerk to me, I have no power except to try and get him banned". I really doubt its because people are offended, that would make little to no sense.
Last note, somebody said something about acting mature and not bothering kids online.
Ok, since most want to abide by the Xbox Live TOS like its the bible. If a 14 year old is playing an M rated game, he is technically violating the TOS as M rated is for 17 plus.

I know its only enforcable when purchasing, but how about when a 14 year old purchases a digital M rated game using their parents credit card? Thats a couple of TOS violations right there.
All I am saying is that people are quick to quote the ToS but look past the fact that the ToS is violated constantly on many levels. In all honesty, if we are going to be so sensitive that some s*** talking gets you so butt hurt, maybe competitive gaming is not really your bag.

You dont know me, quit trying to act like you do based on the context of this thread. You don't what I deal with every day, you dont know my work situation, you dont know my home situation.

I'm the most even person you could ever meet until you try to degrade me. I will never, ever tolerate the belittlement of myself. If people leave me alone, they don't get told off. You absolutely 100% unequivocally have to provoke a response from me. Quit acting like I'm the bad person. If sending a message is "harassment" by your standards, surely simulated sexual assault is as well.

Reporting someone for communication is the same thing as telling the teacher that Johnny called you a poop head. Its being a tattle tale, which we were all taught is wrong.

You should always stand up for yourself, it makes you stronger. These kids today are being taught at a young age and on the smallest level, like xbox live, to depend on someone else to defend them.

I report every message I get and anybody I hear who is toxic, cleans up some of the s***.

I've had people banned more than a few times for them acting like children. There's no reason for people to send harassing messages to others and no reason for somebody to clog up a voice chat channel with dumb s***.

Grow up, act like a normal human being and realize nobody thinks your tough.
